Illusion better than reality

We are often more attracted to illusions than the underlying reality. We are desperate to find out about secrets, but when we do we are disappointed. We want to peek backstage, but when we do so the magic of theatre / film / trick is dispelled. We wait in anticipation for the Olympic Games, festival concerts, the World Cup and when they arrive the joy of their reception is overwhelmed by a sense of loss we experience in connection with no longer awaiting something.
