Deutsche Welle models on BBC

Finally, Deutsche Welle, Germany's international broadcaster, started reaching out to its non-German-speaking audiences in a way BBC has done for a long time to its listeners without a native command of English. I've been yearning for a comprehensive website for a German learner where I could come back on a regular basis and find meaningful, updated content to improve the language. Here's a section with the news in German that includes detailed explaination of its vocab, a video service for learners, a host of courses for different levels and a podcast pool. DW might have done some catching-up, but when you take a look at this BBC site for German enthusiasts, with plenty of attractive products to choose from, it's easy to notice the British public broadcaster is streets ahead still.
